PURPOSE
This position is responsible for supervising the Maintenance Technicians, Instrument Technicians, and Maintenance Technician Apprentice to include performance of the facility maintenance functions to ensure plant efficiency, productivity, and safety standards are met.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION
1.Ensure employees comply with safety rules and regulations. Identify any safety or efficiency process improvements needed.
2.Supervise assigned staff to operate the plant in a safe, reliable, and efficient manner.
3.Supervise daily activities, review and approve time sheets, interview, hire, and train in essential functions.
4.Resolve employee concerns with the Maintenance Manager as needed.
5.Responsible for effectively maintaining and advancing the productivity of assigned staff.
6.Provide support to operations and maintenance to promote the safe, reliable, and efficient generation facilities operations which may include providing direction and supervision to various crews.
7.Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical and mechanical systems to keep the units running at their optimum reliability and performance level as well as periodic performance tests.
8.May assist in planning and scheduling site preventive and corrective maintenance.
9.May assist in developing and implementing short and long-term outage and non-outage planning, to include, but not limited to labor, materials, special tools and equipment, and permits.
10.May coordinate work packages and notify the Maintenance Manager of contract work needs. Coordinate the review and prioritization of outage work.
11.Assist with root cause analysis, forced event reporting, accident investigation, and the budget process.
12.Resolve any performance deficiencies which may occur with operations, maintenance, or other departments.
13.May provide support for plant projects for such things as, but not limited to, contract projects, repairs, etc.
14.Conduct plant walk-downs to monitor equipment performance and conditions; inform Maintenance Manager of any emergent needs as well as identify and communicate safety, performance, or reliability concerns.
15.Provide expert technical engineering services to the plant to optimize unit performance, and to technically support the safe, reliable, efficient, and environmentally sound operation and maintenance of Association generation facilities.
16.Develop and maintain technical services such as a condition-based maintenance support, engineering review of plant systems modifications.
17.Utilize the site Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) to assign and track work. Provide CMMS training to system users.
18.Assist in the identification of critical spare part procurement and manages inventory when needed.
19.Performs the essential functions of the position in a safe and efficient manner.

ESSENTIAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Qualified candidates are required to have:
- Four (4) years relevant experience.
- A valid drivers license and a driving record, which is acceptable by the Associations Driving Policy and insurable by the Association and the Associations insurance carrier at standard group rates.
Preference may be given to candidates with:
- A relevant bachelors degree.
- Supervision or management experience.
- Experience in operation and/or maintenance of generation facility preferably with maintaining reciprocating combustion ignition engines.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

- Minor amount of lifting/carrying/pushing up to fifty (50) pounds, and handling of items.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

This position primarily works in an office setting; however, this position may require field work in variable weather conditions. The incumbent must be able to work in variable weather conditions including, but not limited to rain, high winds, temperatures in excess of 80 degrees Fahrenheit and minus 40 degrees Fahrenheit, large amounts of snow, possibly over long periods of time and in darkness, etc.
Noise level in the work environment is moderate but can be loud in the plant areas.
Exposure to fumes, dust, mechanical, electrical and safety hazards.
The incumbent must be able to work shifts, under potentially stressful conditions for required plant maintenance and operation; may be required to respond to plant emergencies.
EMPLOYMENT STATUS
This position is classified as an exempt, non-represented position; and therefore, is not eligible for overtime compensation. All Association employees are expected to work widely varying amounts of time outside the normal shifts to assist in power restoration or other needs of the Association.
