Available Positions > Job Description Aquatics: Senior Lifeguard / Water Safety Instructor (Part Time) Aquatics: Senior Lifeguard / Water Safety Instructor Parks & Recreation Department Part-Time, Saturdays, up to 5 hours per week
STARTING RATE: $19.00 / hour POSITION RANGE: $19.00 – $20.00 / hour
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & POSITION OVERVIEW: The Senior Lifeguard performs all duties associated with lifeguarding at the pool. Assists Aquatics Director with coordination of aquatics program and assists in activities planned and conducted at the facilities. Assists in the maintenance of facilities and daily maintenance of program area. Identifies and addresses potential safety hazards and supervises patrons to maintain a safe environment. May instruct small groups or individuals in swimming skills. Knowledge of rules and regulations pertaining to pool safety. Understanding of standard lifeguard practices and ability to perform various prevention and rescue techniques. Must have strong swimming ability. Certification as a Lifeguard by American Red Cross or comparable standards required. Ability to accept direction and to develop and maintain respect and discipline from the general public and ability to develop a cooperative relationship with associates.
