Recreation: Special Needs Coordinator (Camp Button Summer Camp)  (Seasonal)
Location: Groton

Special Needs Coordinator, Camp Button Summer Camp

Parks & Recreation Department, Seasonal, up to 18 hrs. per week 

Camp Dates: July 7th - August 15th, M-F 11:30 AM - 3:00 PM

Training Dates:  July 1st & July 2nd, 2025

 

STARTING RATE:                                  $17.50 / hour

POSITION RANGE:                               $17.50 - $18.50 / hour

 

STARTING RATE (Effective 7/1/25):      $17.50 / hour

POSITION RANGE (Effective 7/1/25):    $17.50 - $19.25 / hour

 

POSITION OVERVIEW & REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

The Special Needs Coordinator provides one-on-one support, including personal care needs, for children with moderate to severe disabilities in a half-day summer camp setting.  The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about working with children and will have experience involving individuals of varying abilities in a range of activities including modifying activities to meet the needs of each camp attendee.  Must possess good communication and customer service skills, as well as be flexible, passionate, confident, and responsible.  The Coordinator is responsible for providing an organized and functioning environment while being motivated to ensure the children have the best summer ever!

Physical demands of the job include lifting up to fifty (50) pounds occasionally and kneeling, standing, running, crouching, crawling, and floor sitting.  Must be able to maintain mental and physical ability to respond quickly to emergencies or unexpected situations throughout the day.  Preferred qualifications include experience with children with Autism, assisting campers in water-based activities, restraint, positive reinforcement, and parent management training (PMT).
