SouthCoast Cardiology Seeks a Full Time Medical Records Clerk

Summary:Responsible for pulling and filing medical charts and for distribution of charts.

Qualifications:

Knowledge of general filing principles.

Knowledge of computer applications.

Skill in use of computers.

Skill in courteous and professional telephone manner.

Ability to follow oral and written instructions.

Ability to establish and maintain courteous and professional working relationship with physicians, coworkers and patients.

Ability to communicate clearly.

Job Responsibilities:

Scans medical histories and other information in patient charts in proper order following departmental guidelines.

Pulls and distributes medical records to physicians in an accurate and timely manner.

Faxes Consult notes to Referring physicians or other treating physicians.

Responds to STAT requests with proper follow through.

Uses computer to track chart inquiries and to access other pertinent information.

Track and process DigitalOne outgoing/incoming documents, provider demographics and failed faxes.

Monitor and resolve DigitalOne errors, trends and reporting.

Copies, mails, files, faxes record requests to other physicians or offices.

Responds to medical record telephone calls as required.

Communicates with and assists physicians, patients and coworkers in a professional and courteous manner.

Works in a team environment and is flexible to cover for other members when necessary.

Answers the phone and takes appropriate messages.

Reports to work on a regular and consistent basis.

Education/Experience:High school diploma or equivalent. One (1) year of medical office work experience preferred, but not required.
