Hours: 40 hours per week. Clinic hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 9:00 am - 5:00 pm; Wednesday, 11:00 am - 7:00 pm.

Pay Rate: $41.10 to $43.26 per hour

Education: Masters in a mental health-related field, such as Psychology, Social Work or Counseling required

Licensure: Licensed, licensed-eligible or registered with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) or Waivered Psychologist required.

As a Clinician I - Triage Coordinator, you will:

  • Respond to client crisis situations including conducting risk assessment, calling and meeting with emergency responders to provide them with pertinent information and handle all necessary paperwork (Tarasoff paperwork requirements, incident report requirements, etc).
  • Oversee the urgent walk-in services at the program to ensure timely and accurate admission of new referrals to the program.
  • Direct, monitor, and conduct screening and initial behavioral health assessments for all new, urgent and returning clients.
  • Screen and triage clients for risk and safety concerns and provide crisis intervention to mitigate risk and inform client and program safety.
  • Assist the client in developing client service plan goals and in prioritizing areas of need and steps needed to reach goals established.
  • Assist clients with discharge planning and/or care coordination as needed in order to access on-going medical care, community-based resources, and other support services.
  • Help maintain internal tracking systems for walk-ins and referrals from other programs.

Additional Qualifications and Skills

  • Demonstrates knowledge of psychosocial rehabilitation and recovery-oriented evidence-based and best practices
  • High level of ability to screen, triage and assess for risk and safety factors
  • High level of ability to accurately diagnose using the DSM criteria
  • High level of ability to multi-task and stay calm under pressure
  • Those with experience in a walk-in outpatient-based mental health program encouraged to apply
  • Proficient computer skills, including MS Office
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced and collaborative environment
  • Reliable transportation is required to fulfill the essential functions of this position. A valid California drivers license in good standing and proof of insurance are required for employees driving personal vehicles on company business.
  • Able to pass criminal/background clearance

Heartland Wellness Recovery Center is one of our Adult Outpatient programs (AOP), which provide behavioral health services including psychiatric and clinical assessment, treatment planning, ongoing medication services, individual and group counseling, case management, crisis intervention, mobile outreach, vocational support, peer support and older adult outreach. We deliver fully integrated services to adult clients diagnosed with a serious mental illness, as well as individuals with co-occurring, mental health, and substance use disorders.

All of our outpatient programs also provide full-time walk-in services. Our programs utilize evidence-based practices to assist our clients in reaching their goals and to live the highest quality of life while managing their mental illness.
