Hours: 20 hours per week. Clinic hours are 9:00 am - 5:00 pm on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday; 12:00 pm - 8:00 pm on Thursday

Pay Rate: $22.84 to $24.04 per hour

Education: High school diploma/GED required

Certification: Medical Assistant certification/diploma required

As a Medical Assistant, you will:

  • Consult with CRF program prescriber for medication orders and guidance/recommendations for the treatment of medical and psychiatric conditions throughout the admission, treatment and discharge process and collaborate with the client's primary care physician to coordinate care.
  • Assist CRF program prescriber in obtaining Prior Authorizations from the Pharmacy, and further assist if appeals are necessary.
  • Recognize accepted usage and side effects of ordered psychotropic medication and obtains treatment for side effects, if present.
  • Complete vital signs for clients and report abnormal finding(s) to CRF program prescriber.
  • Administer long-acting injections.
  • Maintain inventory, storage and handling of medication including Patient Assistant Program (PAP) medications and/or sample medication according to Medi-Cal and all overseeing agency's guidelines.
  • Provide health and medication instructions to clients, family members, staff and other support personnel.

Additional Qualifications and Skills

  • Minimum of one year of related experience
  • CPR/First Aid certification required
  • Proficient computer skills, including MS Office
  • Must be able to pass criminal/background clearance

Douglas Young Wellness Recovery Center is one of our Adult Outpatient programs (AOP) that provide behavioral health services including psychiatric and clinical assessment, treatment planning, ongoing medication services, individual and group counseling, case management, crisis intervention, mobile outreach, vocational support, and peer support. We deliver fully integrated services to adult clients diagnosed with a serious mental illness, as well as individuals with co-occurring, mental health, and substance use disorders.

All of our outpatient programs also provide full-time walk-in services.  Our programs utilize evidence-based practices to assist our clients in reaching their goals and to live the highest quality of life while managing their mental illness.
