Job Summary:
Under the supervision of the Patient Access Supervisor, the Patient Access Lead assists the Supervisor with planning, organizing, and directing all activities and personnel in Registration and Centralized Scheduling/.
Ideal Candidate:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Experience of one to two years of general office work with varied clerical experience required
- Previous experience in scheduling, office management or billing preferred
- Must be able to apply personal and professional judgment to situations as they occur
- Computer knowledge of Window applications, email, and network system
- Human relations skills to use tact and diplomacy in contacts with employees and the public
- Verbal ability to receive and impart accurate information.
Essential Job Duties:
- Demonstrates competency in Main registration, emergency department registration, and scheduling.
- Develops schedule and ensures adequate staffing for all patient access areas
- Assists with orientation and training of new hires
- Monitors staff performance and provides remedial training under the guidance of the supervisor
- Provides education to staff during meetings related to policy and procedure changes and performance improvement projects
- Assists supervisor to assure compliance with departmental, quality assurance, and safety and environmental policies and procedures
- Enters information into hospital information system and scans appropriate registration documents.
- Responsible for multiple work queues
- Effectively promote positive customer service
- Skilled communication and interviewing techniques
