Summary Works as member of crew to raise, place, and unite beams, columns, and other structural steel members to form completed structures or structure frameworks in a safe and consistent manner by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1.Has practical knowledge of Regulatory Compliance with local, state, and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), CSE, Inc. Rules and Regulations and Site-Specific Rules and Regulations.

a.Understands OSHA standards relating to Steel Erection; understands and complies with CSE, Inc. Safety Program, rules, regulations and updates.

b.Works within AISC Certification Procedures.

c.Trained to safely operate forklifts, JLG type man-lifts, scissor-lifts and similar equipment.

d.Observes 100% of tie-offs.

 

2.Follows directions and assumes responsibility of job essentials by:

a.Assisting with inspecting and identifying hazards associated with operations.

b.Assuming control of tools and equipment operated.

c.Setting up hoisting equipment for raising and placing structural steel members.

d.Fastening steel members to cable of hoist with wire rope or nylon slings.

e.Unloading incoming steel, shakes out members and placing in lay down area.

f.Knowing OSHA signals and if assigned, signals worker operating hoisting equipment to lift and place steel member.

g.Assisting in set-up and knock-down of cranes.

h.Bolting up structural steel members, welding, and otherwise assembling.

i.Placing and securing metal deck components.

j.When working above ground uses safety harness, lanyard, and beamer for proper tie-off.

k.Connecting steel columns, beams, and girders.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None.

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty safely and satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience: One - two years of experience.

Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Valid driver's license.

Other Qualifications Must be able to travel. Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
