POSITION SUMMARYÂ
The Machinist/Tool and Die Maker machines precision components to tight tolerances, utilizing standard tool room equipment in a Job Shop environment. Assemble tools, fixtures, and machinery with regard to fit, form, and function.Â
RESPONSIBILITESÂ
- Construct new tools and dies as required
- Review drawings and specificationsÂ
- Design jigs and fixturesÂ
- Plan and implement order of operation to manufacture parts
- Calculate speeds, feed, and depth of cutÂ
- Inspect parts using calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, gauge pins, and other toolsÂ
- Machine parts to tight tolerances (0.005)
- Machine parts to require surface finish
- Repair and maintain production tools and die s
- Troubleshoot tooling equipment then repair as required
- Modify dies to conform to engineering changes
- Work to blueprints, sketches, written and verbal instructions, basic GDT
- Set up and operate machines: Drill Press, Engine Lathe, Milling Machine (knee and bend), Surface Grinder, ID/OD Grinder, Honing Machine, and CNC Lathes & MillsorÂ
- Basic programming using G code or ConversationalÂ
- Handle confidential information on a regular basisÂ
- Take on and complete any work that is assigned by the tool room Area/Shift leaders
- Preferred: CAD/CAM & Hydraulics and PneumaticsÂ
QUALIFICATIONSÂ
- High school diploma or GED requiredÂ
- At least 5 years' experience in a machine shop environment
- Familiarization with Cam and G code programmingÂ
- Must have all basic tools such as calipers, micrometers, indicators
- Ability to understand and follow English instructionsÂ
- Good basic math and algebra skills
- Ability to manage and schedule multiple priorities and meet deadlinesÂ
- Ability to work flexible hours and overtime as requiredÂ
- Ability to use computer and software as requiredÂ
- Ability to work with blueprints and sketches
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds; push/pull up to 70 pounds; transfer 50-100 pounds with the help of another person
- Must be able to bend, squat, twist, and kneel
- Ability to use hand/power toolsÂ
- Must be able to work a minimum of 40 hours per weekÂ
