Position Overview: JFK's Outpatient Therapists provide direct clinical care to clients managing emotional & physical challenges associated with mental illness, substance use and addiction. In an adult- outpatient, medically-assisted treatment or walk-in setting, our therapists serve the local community by:
- Providing clinical diagnostic and counseling therapy for individuals, groups & family/couples; and Drug and Alcohol assessments/intakes
- Incorporating evidence-based treatment services to prevent and reduce self-destructive behaviors (I.e.- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, DBT, motivational interviewing, etc.)
- Using a collaborative approach to treatment planning, exchanging resources & ideas to promote strength, recovery & resilience.
- Identifying social, economic, and health programs & resources appropriate to support community integration.
We are seeking dedicated professionals who:
- Desire to embrace and advance the philosophy and objectives of JFK Behavioral Health
- Are motivated to construct and implement impactful therapeutic techniques.
- Can establish rapport and cooperative relationships with individuals possessing diminished social and emotional capacity.
- Understand substance use, treatment and the dynamics of co-occurring disorders.
- Understand the social factors which contribute to attitudes and behaviors.
- Are organized and can memorialize client progress, treatment plans and daily clinical documentation to satisfy regulatory requirements.
- Have an awareness of the laws, regulations and rules governing the provision of behavioral health services.
Training & Experience:
- Master's degree in social work, Psychology, Counseling or related discipline from an accredited university.
- At least one year of clinical experience (a two-semester internship is acceptable) working with adults performing therapy, preferably in a drug and alcohol treatment setting.
