Physical Therapy Assistant  (PRN)

As a staff Physical Therapy Assistant, you will participate in the daily activities of rehabilitation services. You will perform selected patient treatments under the general supervision of a staff Physical Therapist, this includes the potential in working in Inpatient and IRU. A Physical Therapist Assistant administers physical therapy treatment to patients as defined in the Kansas Physical Therapy Practice Act. You will have the responsibility for the overall direction, utilization, supervision, instruction, and evaluation of PTA students utilized in the department/Organization, you will also prepare patients and equipment for treatment; may help perform the housekeeping duties of the department/organization; performs other diverse duties as requested or required. The PTA is involved is documenting as necessary and appropriate, while also assisting with, or actively participating in, ACHC and safety procedures for the department/NMC.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and experience:

  • Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program approved by The American Physical Therapy Associations, or The Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation or The Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association and The American Physical Therapy Association.
  • 1-year minimum experience preferred
  • Member of the APTA and/or KPTA preferred

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Must know principles and practice of Physical Therapy; be familiar with the American Physical Therapy Association Code of Ethics; be familiar with department/organization policies, procedures, regulations and layout; be aware of inter and intra department/organization communications; be able to apply supervision techniques.
  • Must be able to apply the theory of Physical Therapy, have the ability and competency to operate the equipment for this position; be able to perform technical procedures; be able to speak intelligently and in a professional manner before others; demonstrate supervision skills.

Licensure and certifications:

  • Must have State Licensure. Licensure must be obtained as per state law
  • Must have, or immediately obtain BLS certification
  • Must maintain BLS certification
