Position Description:
The Director of Public Affairs is a practicing Catholic in good standing who, in collaboration with the Chief Communications Officer and other offices of the USCCB, is responsible for the development and implementation of USCCB external communications messaging, strategy and objectives. The Director of Public Affairs serves as a strategic and practical advisor to the USCCB for identifying and executing a broad range of public relations activities in support of the USCCB, its mission and in meeting the mandates of the Committee on Communications. Contributes to the Bishops strategic plan for the Conference. Demonstrates willingness and ability to understand, respect and contribute to the USCCB mission and to fulfill job duties in accordance with its Catholic identity.
Requirements:
Educational Level: Bachelors degree; Masters degree preferred
Major Field/Specialty: Communications or related field
Language Requirement: Spanish and/or Italian helpful, but not required
Other Specialized Training: (i.e. word processing, personal computer, knowledge of Catholic Church, etc.)
Type and Nature of Professional Experience:
Number of Years Required: Minimum of 10 years of related experience.
