Job Summary
The Controller is responsible for overseeing corporate financial reporting, financial analysis, and internal controls.Liaise with directors and executives and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Prepare annual budgets and report monthly financials timely & accurately.
Job Duties
Be the head of the accounting department and be able to oversee & process any segment that may be needed. This includes accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll & sales tax.
Manage the payroll and process payroll for the executive branch. Ensure compliance on all payroll reporting and payroll tax reporting.
Prepare monthly financial statements and supplemental schedules in compliance with reporting deadlines.
Coordinate and prepare budgets and financial forecasts for internal and external use.
Work with parent company on any additional details or reporting needed.
Manage depreciation reports and capitalization details.
Ensure compliance with sales tax, property taxes, and other applicable taxes.
Identify system & IT capabilities to further efficiencies for the department and overall output & accuracy of work.
Oversee the Accounting Manager and the Payroll Processor.
Fulfill other corporate duties as needed.
Education/Work Experience
Bachelor's degree in accounting. Master's degree in accounting or related field.
Ten years of accounting experience.
Three years of personal management experience.
Retail accounting experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to plan, organize, and multi-task budgetary preparation and management experience.
Proficiency in accounting procedures and principles.
Ability to analyze efficiencies in software relative to accounting duties.
Knowledge of banking procedures related to money management.
Experience in cash management and expenditure processes.
Understanding of federal tax guidelines and compliance.
Knowledge of DOL guidelines.
Familiarity with fixed asset depreciation schedules.
Excellent organizational skills.
Effective time-management abilities.
Ability to perform all accounting functions, including financial statement preparation.
Ability to establish credibility and support organizational priorities.
Strong team player with the ability to interact with other departments.
